A letter from Robert
My decision to run for elected office is grounded in my desire to help lead Kentucky to take the legislative steps necessary to fulfill its great potential. As the Inspector General for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services from 2004 to 2007, I earned a reputation for aggressively investigating fraud, waste and abuse in state government.
I will champion the principles of transparency, accountability and fiscal responsibility as legislator. Government must create an economic environment in which individuals and businesses can innovate, grow, and prosper. We must move swiftly from our historical job killing environment to one of job creation. This will require a marketplace that is free from frivolous regulations and lawsuits, and which removes impediments to open labor markets. Additionally, we must reform our arcane tax system so that hard work, savings and investment are rewarded, not penalized. Finally, by using evidence-based principles we must take all steps necessary to make Kentucky a recognized leader in designing and implementing high-quality, cost-effective health care and education delivery systems. By so doing, we will increase public safety, decreases dependence on government, and enjoy healthier, more productive and independent lives.
I pledge to work diligently to accomplish these weighty, but obtainable objectives. For far too long Kentucky has failed to take the actions necessary to ensure its long-term success and prosperity. Now is the time to act boldly, to lead, and to create a great Commonwealth that our children and grandchildren will want to call home.
Very Truly Yours,
Robert J. Benvenuti III
